From necktie to stylish sash

 

Hi co-refashionistas! It's a good day because: A. a new series of Great British Sewing Bee starts tonight, yay! B. it's Kings day in Holland, which means a day off, free markets and lots of tompouce eating going on (Dutch pastry, famous for complicated eating) and C. I can share my last project with you!

I'm sure some of you have also thought about using neckties for refashions. Well, so have I and I recently ran into some nice matching neckties in a thrift store. I decided to transform them into a stylish sash. And while I was working on that, I was in for an unexpected surprise...

I've got some more plans with neckties, but I'm also curious about your ideas. What would you do with old neckties? Let me know in the comments!

Cut Your Jumpsuit in 2

Hello Refashion Co-op. I decided to cut my jumpsuit in 2 pieces. I had a good reason though, trust me. 

Before and after.

I cut the top off and kept the seams intact. I used a zigzag stitch along the bottom to keep it all together over time.

I added a waistband to the pants so I could wear them. 

I can wear the 2 pieces together and it still looks like a jumpsuit.

I can also wear the loose pants by themselves. Very comfy!

But this is the whole reason for the refashion. I wanted a bustier style top. I love it over the white button down shirt. I have seen tops like this on Instagram and liked the look. The Linebacker Dress

 Hello Refashion Co-op. I hope you are having a wonderful spring. I found this black and white dress at a swap a while back. I liked the color scheme but the sleeves and shoulders were too much on me. I felt like  a linebacker.

Before and after.

I shortened the sleeves. 

And I shortened the whole dress.

Wild Bell Sleeves

 Hello Refashion Co-op. When I saw this green floral dress I thought the fabric was amazing. But I wasn't sure about the sleeves.

You see what I'm talking about right? It's A LOT of sleeve. 

I cut the wild sleeves off. Was it the right decision? I hope so because it is done.

Cherry Blossom Jeans

 Hello Refashion Co-op. I hope you are doing well. I am enjoying the warmer spring weather and made some painted jeans to celebrate spring. 

These jeans were so fun to make. 

I painted the branches and let them dry. Then I started painting the blossoms. I was not trying to make a perfect blossoms. I wanted a representation of blossoms. I was even able to let my youngest help me. 

I used different shades of pink and layered the colors on each other. There were some smudges and mistakes. That is OK.
