Dress to Shirt Refashion

Hello Refashion Co-op. Summer is here! It is warm where I live and in a minute it's going to be HOT! I like to wear linen in summer but a lot of linen seems to come with a nylon lining. Like this dress. I hate nylon. It is hot and itchy, it doesn't breathe. It is awful in summer.

I made this shirt from this beautiful linen dress. That allowed me to get rid of the lining.

I cut the skirt off the dress and used a pattern to cut out a sleeveless shirt. I liked the pleated details at the hem and thought it would look good on a shirt hem.

With some creative placement, I had just enough of the skirt left over to made some little cap sleeves.

This linen shirt will be cool and comfortable in summer. Thanks for reading along, for more pictures and details go to I Can Work With That.

Dramatic Jacket

Hello Refashion Co-op. I used 2 old refashion projects to make a new refashion project. Let me show you what I did.

Mood fabrics posted this pink jacket on Instagram. (They are great to follow for sewing inspirations and free patterns and such.) I thought the jacket was so amazing and fun. I looked at it for a while and I realized I had some pieces I could use to make this jacket for myself. Sort of.

I started with this jacket that I refashioned last year. It was cropped like the pink jacket.

I also had this yellow dress that I shortened and shortened last year. I found it at a thrift store and I didn't mind cutting it up for the tulle in the skirt.

I sewed the tulle to the hem of the jacket and I added some gold trim. Because I love adding trim.

This was so fun and it only took a little while because I had the parts on hand. Thanks for reading along, for more pictures and details go to I Can Work With That.

Vintage Dress 2

Hello Refashion Co-op. I had a few vintage dresses that I wanted to update so that I could wear them out in public for my regular activities. This is the second dress I refashioned.

Before and after.

This light weight cotton house dress was super comfortable but it wasn't very flattering.

I wanted to make this dress into separates because I loved the colors and the fabric so much, I wanted to be able to wear it as much as possible.

I hemmed the top so it would not fray.

I also added elastic in the ends of the sleeves.I unpicked a few stitches and threaded the elastic through to make a puffed sleeve.

I used a zigzag stitch to attach the elastic to the skirt.

I really liked how this turned out. Thanks for reading along, for more details and pictured go to I Can Work With That.

Dresses to T-Shirts

Hello Refashion Co-Op. I love bright colors as you can see from this picture. I found these orange pants at a thrift store and loved the color. I also found this fruit shirt when I found  the pants. I dug into my closet for more. I found a couple t-shirt dresses that would match well.

Before and after.

I did some quick and easy cutting and sewing so I could use these dresses. This dress just needed to be shortened.

I shortened this t-shirt dress too. I also changed the shape and cut the sides to narrow them.

I used my serger to sew the new side seams together.

These were great new shirts and worked with my BRIGHT orange pants. Thanks for reading along, for more details and pictures go to I Can Work With That.
