Dress to 2 Piece Set

 Hello Refashion Co-op. I had a great red dress to refashion. the fabric was such a nice weight knit. 

Before and after.

I cut the dress in 2 and made the top more fitted. 

I put a elastic waistband into the skirt. There was a waistband in the dress already and I kept it attached to the skirt. It just needed a bit of elastic to make it fit well. 

 

I used my serger and some very light thread to finish all the cut edges. 

 

 

I liked how the light thread broke up the red color.

 

It was a fast way to finish the edges too.

Pimp your jeans jacket

 

It seems I am in a jeans phase... I've been working on a big project for 2 months now (also involving jeans:)). And it's taking more time than I had planned. Partly because I'm also dealing with an impingement and had to avoid too much stress on my right arm and shoulder. Which isn't easy when you rely on them for your hobbies.... Anyway, I will hopefully be able to share it next time. 

For now, a smaller project that's also been on my wishlist for some time now: pimping an old jeans jacket! In my opinion a jeans jacket is indispensable in everyone's closet. But that's just my opinion, and I'm Dutch. I once heard British fashion advisors Trinny or Susannah (can't remember which one) comment on television: 'You Dutch girls and your jeans..' Need I say more? And honestly, I don't know which one of my female friends or acquaintances doesn't own at least one pair of jeans or a jeans jacket. 

Feel free to enlighten me on the cultural differences on this topic via the comments, I'm curious! In the mean time, hope you'll enjoy the patching up of my jacket!

Felted Wool Knot Bag

Hello Refashion Co-op. I was really inspired by Vermaakster's post on January 23. She made a little bag from denim scraps. I wanted to try it too. She included a pattern and everything. Go check that post to see it. Big thanks to you, Vermaakster!

As you can see, I made my bag out of felted wool. 

I washed the jacket in hot water to shrink it and removed all the lining. 

I cut out my bag pieces from the wool fabric. I love felted wool. It doesn't fray at all. 

I even used the pockets from the jacket on one side of the bag.

Valentine Jeans

 Hello Refashion Co-op. It is almost Valentine's Day and I had an idea that was inspired by this holiday but could be worn all year round. 

Before and after. 

I decided to fill in the holes of my distressed jeans with this red heart fabric. It would be warmer and it would add as pop of red color to the jeans. 

I did some machine sewing and some hand stitching. I thought the combination would be fun.

Valentine Elbow Patches

 Hello Refashion Co-op. Valentine's Day is coming and I wanted to do a refashion with that in mind. I plan to use red and pink all this month, just for some Valentine fun. 

Valentine elbow patches.

I have had this cotton sweater for a while. The pink stripe made it perfect for some pink elbows.

I had some pink scrap fabric that matched my theme. I cut out hearts and used some fusible interfacing to make them easier to work with. 

I did some simple hand sewing.
