A lot of Giraffe

 Hello Refashion Co-op. I did an outfit makeover of sorts on this skirt and shirt combo. I wanted to change the shape of the shirt and I wanted to keep the shape of the skirt. 

Before and after. 

I cut the shirt down and made it a classic t-shirt shape. The giraffe fabric was wild enough on its own, it didn't need to be fancy.

I marked where I needed to sew my new side seam to make this skirt. I needed about 2 inches taken off the waist so I made a new side seam taking 2 inches off the side of the whole skirt. This kept the skirt the same shape.

 

I also gave it a huge cut and a new hem.

A Giraffe & Biker Shorts

 Hello Refashion Co-op. I have been wanting a pair of biker shorts all spring. They seemed like leggings but for summer. I love to be comfortable so I was all for that. I didn't want to "buy" a pair. I just waited. 

Before and after. 

Imagine my joy when I tried on this skirt and found it was not a skirt. It was a skort. The shorts underneath were a perfect pair of biker shorts. 

I cut the skirt off. I just cut close to the waistband seam without cutting the seam itself.

The waist was a little loose so I took the waist in by sewing new side seams with a zigzag stitch. It just needed a little tweak to be perfect.

This giraffe button-up shirt was great for this month's animal print theme. I liked it because it was lightweight. I decided to make it into a sleeveless little top layer. I cut the collar, sleeves and buttons off. The pattern is still the star of the show.

The giraffe shirt is long enough to cover my bum but not heavy because it's hot out there! The shorts are so soft and comfortable. I could lay down and watch TV or I could take of and go for a jog. Bananarama Wanna Be Dungarees

Oh , what a Cruel Summer but  I have a new obsession! Dungarees, aka overalls. I wanted to use a linen fabric and I was so lucky to find an outfit at the Goodwill that would provide enough fabric to complete my vision. I used a self drafted  pattern inspired by Stitch Sisters dungarees pattern. All I had to do to the bottom was cut off the waist band and attached the bib portion. I also took the inseam in about 5/8” for a more flattering silhouette. 

Scarf & Tank

 Hello Refashion Co-op. I am playing around with animal prints this month and today's post is right in that theme. Check out this fun giraffe refashion.

I decided to use the scarf to make the tank bigger. 

I cut the scarf in half and added a long piece to each side. 

The skirt was too long on me so I cut the length and added fringe. It was fun to cut...

Summer top from men's shirt and necktie

 

Some of you may remember that I transformed 2 neckties into a sash a few weeks ago. Since I had bought 3 neckties at the thrift store, there was still one tie left for another project! And while the rain kept pouring down the last two days, I decided to bring the sun inside. I transformed the tie and a second-hand men's shirt into a summer top!

Tight Tiger Transformation

 Hello Refashion Co-op. I am working on animal print clothing all month. Today's post is a dress with tiger stripes and a few leopard spots mixed in. I think... I am not 100% sure. But I loved the print and the colors. The top was too tight and the buckle was right under my chest. I didn't like it.

 Before and after. 

I cut the tight top off and worked with the lower part of the dress. 

 

I really liked this as a skirt. That big buckle was more of a belt at my waist. It was more comfortable and I liked it so much better. You can see more at I Can Work With That.

Kentucky Derby Hat

I present to you my latest Kentucky Derby Hat!

Started with a Dollar Tree sunhat.

I mixed up some brown fabric dye and put it in a bucket and put my hat in. I let the hat soak up the dye for about 20 minutes. Then took it and rinsed it in cool water.

I cut up the brim from another sunhat and used to to make a fan design and glued that together.

After the back fan detail was in place I began adding all my flowers.
