Black & Blue

Hello Refashion Co-op. It is a bummer when a favorite piece of clothing gets a hole in it. This black t-shirt was/is a favorite of mine because it fit well and it went with everything. But it got a hole right in the front.

I cut the t-shirt off right at the hole. Now I had a shorter t-shirt with a raw cut, unfinished hemline.

I had an idea to cover that hole and make this t-shirt more fun. I used the trim from this skirt that I refashioned a couple months ago.

I removed the trim from the skirt. Snip, snip.

I used a zigzag stitch to attach the trim to my shirt.

The trim covered the cut I made in the shirt and gave it some fun flourish.

Push Up Your Sleeves

Hello Refashion Co-op. My daughter gave me this blazer jacket that she didn't want anymore. I liked the light blue color. It seemed perfect for spring. But the sleeves were SO long. That was not so perfect.

I made a small opening in the inside of the wrist cuff and threaded elastic through the sleeve.

I threaded elastic through and connected the ends to make a circle.

The circle or "bracelet" of elastic is hidden inside the jacket sleeve and it is tight enough to keep the sleeve pushed up.

This was such a quick fix but it made the jacket more fun to wear. And my hands are out in the open. For more pictures and details go to I Can Work With That.

No-Sew Sweater Refashion

Hello Refashion Co-op. I know spring is coming eventually but it is still cold enough to need a sweater. At least where I live. But what if you shrunk a sweater? Don't throw it away, you can have a lot of fun refashioning wool sweaters that shrunk.

My sister-in-law shrank this navy blue sweater and gave it to me to use for a refashion. It was very tight in the sleeves but the body fit well.

I started cutting the sleeves off and then just kept cutting. The wool is woven so tight (After shrinking.) that the material won't fray and doesn't need any hemming.

I cut a scalloped edge along the hem for fun.

I cut the collar as well.

Shawl to Sweater

Hello Refashion Co-op. I found this pretty blue shawl at a swap. I love this color so much but a shawl  doesn't stay on very well if you are doing anything around the house. (Like chasing a 5 year old boy!)

I decided to draw a cardigan shape and make sleeves and side seams.

I really liked how it became a loose open cardigan. It is just as cozy as a shawl, but stays on easier.

Hooded Poncho Refash

I have been seeing ladies around town with these hooded ponchos made of sweatshirt material. I haven’t been able to find these in the stores but that won’t stop me!

I was gifted this beautiful purple sweatshirt from my boyfriend’s mom’s neighbor, she’s such a gem!

Among the mountain of clothes, my boyfriend’s mom’s neighbor gifted me was this hooded scarf, a pretty genius winter must have!

I separated the hood from the scarf. Then I pinned and sewed the hood onto the collar of the sweatshirt.

I cut a square from the leftover scarf and stitched each edge, which left a fun ruffles look!

I sewed the square onto the front of the sweatshirt to make a pouch pocket!

Then it was time to cut off the sleeves.

I turned the sweatshirt inside out and rolled the armholes back and pinned a new sleeve hem.

The finished product! Paired with a long sleeve shirt underneath!

With the hood up!
