Change a Shapeless Dress

 Hello Refashion Co-op. Sometimes clothes can be a little shapeless and boring. This dress was like that. It was no fun at all. 

Before and after. 

I used this orange skirt as a guide to cut out a skirt. The dress was wider than the skirt. I used the side pieces later.

The little extra side scraps were enough to make a small waistband for the shirt. 

The new skirt got a matching navy blue elastic waistband. I can tuck the shirt in or leave it out. Thanks for reading along. For more pictures and details go to I Can Work With That.

Blue (monday) jeans belt

 

Last year I turned old jeans in to a knitted bath mat (heavy knitting!). As you can see, I saved some interesting fabric scraps from this project. Blue Monday seemed like the perfect moment to use the leftover seams for a new project: a braided jeans belt. 

No better remedy for feeling blue than a creative activity! (Except chocolate maybe...)

I used 3 long seams, a belt buckle and my favourite jeans yarn.

The 3rd seam also functions as a loop!

Then I started braiding...
