Angelfairydust's 'like mother, like daughter' pillowcase top

After making a dress for myself in the summer, I had this left over from the bottom of the dress....
Well I decided to make a top for my eldest girl from it.
So I started here....
Chop chop!!
I took measurements of my eldest girl and measured about 1 inch extra for seams. I cut the fabric with my pinking blade and then I cut two curves for the arm holes. Bare in mind this is two pieces, the front and back as I cut it with a seam at one side so I only had to sew one seam.
Then I folded over the armholes and pinned. I cut little snips to make it easier to fold around the bend
Then I sewed with my sewing machine!
Then I snipped some some fabric to make straps.
I sewed it together end to end with right sides facing and turned it inside our with a pencil. This is pretty tricky so I sewed one end shut to make it easier.
Then I pinned the top of the dress down to make a tunnel for the straps and sewed it in a straight(ish) line!

Then I took my new straps and threaded them through
And voila! A gorgeous pillowcase top for willow!!

Yay it fits!!
:) tadah!!

'What-a-wedding!' Dress

My sister was due to get married and I realised that I had an absolutely gorgeous dress for the wedding for myself....only it was too tight :(

So I decided I would make it into a dress for my daughter to wear for the wedding and my other daughter and I would find something with a similar pattern to wear so that we were coordinated :)

So I started off with this gorgeous dress in a uk size 10

I absolutely loved it like this but with my daughter being only 10, she didn't have the figure to wear it!

So I chopped off the straps, which made a three inch shortage at the front.
I couldn't chop the back to meet it because of the zip.

Part of the crazy process!

So I cut five inches from the hem (because let's face it, it was too long for her anyway!) and patched up the top and added the old straps (minus the darted bit for womanly humps) and added a gorgeous lace trim.

And this is what it turned out like

AngelFairyDust's very first refashion!

Well, where do I start?

My name is Lauren and I am a mother of four beautiful children. I live in England with my fiancĂ© David and our kids. I have always enjoyed making things and sewing especially, so in March of this year I decided to start a blog!
I also suffer from Fibromyalgia, hip displacement and degenerative disc disease in my spine so it takes me a very long time to create my refashions, (and everything else I make!)
But this one was my very first refashion.
I started out with this old denim skirt that I hadn't worn since before the birth of my third child....
It was fraying quite severely at the bottom and had lost around two inches of length because of this, but I really liked it, so I decided to spruce it up a wee bit!
I added some stunning lily print 100% cotton fabric from my stash, which perfectly matched the inner colour of the pockets, and voila!
One very comfy but stylish new mini skirt!

And here is the back...
Pretty huh? It's a shame I can't wear it though because I haven't lost my baby weight yet!

Take a look at this refashion on my blog here

Thanks for looking and thank you for adding me to this wonderful blog!
