Halloween skirt

I've made a lot of stuff recently (A few things still to be finished) and it's about time I got around to posting it!
First, a magical skirt I made for my Halloween costume.
The purple panels were sleeves from two different dress shirts. They each have a buttoned cuff that makes the waist band all cool and expandable, but it actually fits me perfect as it is, with all of them buttoned. I sewed them down most of the way and then added a few triangle layers of black tulle between the sleeves. Despite the several tulle layers, though, it was still a little too see-through, so I'm wearing a black skirt underneath. Isn't it cool, though?
I'm a sorceress, can you tell?
But I'll probably wear this for regular times too. You can find my blog here.
By the way, it's National Novel Writing Month! Anyone else participating? See Nanowrimo.com for details!

My first refashion

Well, I have a few projects in the works but none of them are quite done yet. I thought that in the meantime, since it's been awhile since I've contributed, I'd post some recent photos of my very first refashion. The refashion that, all those years ago in my college days, caused me to realize that essays weren't the only things that could be revised! I don't have any before pictures but it's pretty easy to tell what it was before: a pair of cargo pants. :)

Despite a couple holes I still love and wear this skirt. I love it for itself but I also love it for the beginning of all the other clothes I've made from clothes. It must be somewhere around 6 years ago that I started refashioning!

The cover up bustle

Here I am with another bustle. This time it was to cover up a holey butt in one of my favourite skirts.
Before
The clever part is, it's not sewed to the skirt, but secured with ties. So I can remove it and wear it with any other outfit if I want.

A new pair of trousers

This technically isn't a refashion. I mean, unless you count refashioning large rectangles of fabric into a wearable item of clothing.
before
I made a pair of pants. Aladdin Pants, gypsy trousers, call 'em what you will.
After
I didn't have a pattern, except the pair of similar of pants that I had made a few years ago...that I also made without using a pattern. I basically took three rectangles and sewed them together, added elastic and voila! Pants! Comfortable, breezy, summer pants. I'm thinking of adding an outside pocket, but in order to do that I have actually take them off, so it may not happen this summer.

A Little Bustle Love

I took a boring business lady coat thing...(I honestly have no idea what this garment would be called, its like a vest and a coat....a vest-coat?) And I made it awesome. Awesomeness primarily achieved by incorporating a bustle into it. I used black tulle and some satin and pearly-beaded ribbon type trim in addition to changing the garment itself.

And I'm totally loving those pockets it came with too. I found it for 2 dollars at my local thrift store and felt like I had to have it, despite it being completely not my style. I'm really glad I got it now! My first truly steampunk piece!

I used the bottom half of an old t-shirt to make a summer dress! (Dress challenge entry?)

I really think this may be too late. I'm about 20 minutes past the deadline, but in the off chance that I'll still get entered I'm posting it. And I'd post it even if there were no "dress challenge" and I just so happened to finally make a dress that I've been plotting for 2 years. Which I did!  The fabric was given to me and the shirt was a cast off from my husband's stash. (Pay no attention to the dates, they are completely incorrect)
Sports team I've never heard of....and I used to live in Tampa! And I'm a huge fan of soccer....

I love the lace up back, but I think it needs to be tweaked, it doesn't look as good as I was hoping. Still, I'm really glad I've finally made this dress! I'll be wearing this one a lot this summer. For some more details see my blog.

Pants to Skirt

Well, this is exciting! This being my first post to the refashion co-op blog, allow me to introduce myself, I'm Christiana and I have a grab-bag type blog of all sorts of crafts, art and hobbies. Refashion being a very dominant one.
This is a skirt that I made out of a pair of swingy-style dance pants recently. The pants were a pair that were given to me and I very rarely wore them.

After
Action shot
Now I wear it all the time! The whole story can be found at my blog along with a few more photos.
