Curtain skirt on the beach

This was one of my first refashions. It is a combination of sheets and curtains. I used the off cuts of my Gran's curtains and found this floral sheet. The lace at the bottom is the section of the curtain which gets hooked into the hooks (if that makes sense...I don't know what it is called). It also has a nice little vintage button on it.

curtain jacket

I made this jacket a while back out of my Gran's curtains. I made it for a Peppermint magazine eco competition and ended up coming runner up. I wanted to share this project as I did learn a thing or 2 about using old sun damaged curtains for a jacket. Sadly, due to the harsh sun the fabric was quite brittle which resulted in numerous rips. i still love it! but can't wear it anywhere:( So beware of those old curtains. I continue to use curtains but I am now more careful when purchasing them.

curtains and curtains

I must admit. I love searching through op shops in the hopes of finding the perfect curtain. This skirt is made up of 2 different curtains.

I gathered the body of the skirt on the waist band.

........and I knitted the little mustard woollen brooch to complete the look

drab coral blouse to a 50's silhouette blouse

Hello All! I am mahaila and I am very excited to add my first post to Refashion co-op!

I found this top in a Berlin second hand store a while ago and fell in love with the detailing: cut outs + embroidery.

I decided to make a fitted 50's style blouse. And this was the end product! I also made a black circle skirt to complement the style of the blouse.

I am looking forward to posting more refashioning adventures! and being apart of this fantastic community.
