Simple Crafty Refashion: Bleached Image Tee Shirt

Good afternoon, refashionistas!

This month's post is a pretty crafty one.  It requires no sewing- just some cutting and procuring of supplies.  However, it is so much fun (and so simple) that my son is already getting paid by his friends to create custom tee shirts for them.

Super Easy Shoe Refashion

I have such a simple shoe refashion today that it almost feels like cheating.  (But then again, I've been so busy grading essays that I've had little time for craftiness, so perhaps this fell at just the right time.)

I started with these thrifted shoes...

And updated them to look like this...

Fun Pleated Skirt from Pants and Shirt

It's always a nice day when I have some time to myself in my sewing room, audio book playing, sewing machine whirring.  Last week I refashioned a skirt out of a pair of khaki pants and men's shirt.  It was meant to be whimsical and fun, while not being too outrageous.

Baby Goat Silhouette Shirt!

As a school teacher, my ability to be crafty and bury myself in a wealth of fabric in my sewing room is hindered a bit by time constraints.  It's so nice to be able to just devote some time to my creative side.  I got one day into Winter break and found myself already digging through my drawers of stuff to refashion.

This is what I dug out: a too-small teal shirt that I liked, a promising burgundy tank, and a pile of men's undershirts.  (I didn't use the burgundy tank this time, but I'm sure I'll get around to it.)

The shirt was made bigger and snazzed up by baby goat silhouette.  Really love it now!

J. Jill Tank and Dress to New A-line

This has been a crazy month for me!  When school starts back up again, everything else takes a backseat to my job.  I was concerned I wouldn't be able to finish this month's refashion in time. 

Thankfully, I managed to find a few spare minutes throughout the week to complete this project.  I had a good friend that had passed along some unwanted clothes from J. Jill.  I was more than happy to take them off her hands and create a new dress that fits me perfectly.

You can see in the before picture that the clothes were much to big for me to start, so lots of modifications were in store.

One Red Shoe intro + Racerback tank tutorial

Hello everyone!

I'm so excited to be a part of Refashion Co-op; I've been a reader for a long while, and one thing I love is getting inspiration and finding new blogs out there from other refashioners.  In fact, it was blogs like the ones I've found that inspired me to start my own blog in the first place.

I am the author of One Red Shoe blog, which is a blog about my thrifty exploits.  It's not a strictly refashion blog, but is a bit more diverse.  Basically, it covers things such as thrifty refashions, repurposing/recycling items, money saving recipes, and my many thrifty finds when shopping at thrift stores and consignment shops.

On a more personal note, I live in the Richmond, Virginia area (anyone else out there from the Old Dominion??)  and am a high school history teacher by day. 

I thought I'd post a pretty basic tutorial that's been on my blog for a while now: a racerback tank tutorial.  I'm working on some other things, but they're not posted yet, so this will have to do for August.  You can go here for my step by step instructions.  Thanks for looking!
