Refashioned Boho Chopper Mittens

Upgrade a plain pair of mittens into chic boho fashion by adding fabric scraps and trim.

I took apart these men's oversized leather choppers, added fabric scraps and trim to the tops, and sewed back together into women's size. See more pictures and details here.

With a second pair, I added pleather hearts and red striped hearts.

The result is oh-so-boho and girly! I get a ton of compliments and "where'd you get those mittens?" reactions. "I refashioned them!"

Kid's Kitty Hat Refashion

Even though winter is nearing an end here in Minnesota, it still gets chilly out. We love our stocking caps and wearing them any time of year is often seen in Minnesota fashion.

After a quick trip to the dollar store and coming across a cute little striped stocking cap, I knew I needed to refashion it to have kitty ears and give to my niece. Full details here.

Simply cut out cat ear shapes from scrap fabric, open the seams on the stocking cap, resew with the cat ears in place. Easy as that!

Men's Flannel Shirt Refashion

Find yourself a Men's Quilted Flannel Shirt and Refashion it into an awesome Bomber Jacket. 

Having a dad who loves his flannels ensures that I have a constant stream of well worn flannel shirts ready for refashioning. After my Flannel Shirt to Vest Refashion I could hardly wait to try another.

This time I turned an men's XL flannel shirt into a women's bomber jacket. The quilted inside of the flannel shirt turned to the outside of the jacket. The lining is the original cozy flannel outer layer. Excuse the baby bump :)

Refashion included:

• Reworking the size and fit
• Turning the shirt inside-out
• Adding ribbed jersey fabric to the collar, wrists, and waist
• Pockets were added
• Button opening changed into a zipper opening

The result is a super cute black Quilted Bomber Jacket. Perfect for those cool days and great for layering.

Men's Flannel Shirt Refashion to a Vest

I grew up cuddling up to my dad who was always wearing a flannel shirt. And now I get to sort through those old flannels and get creative with refashions. This men's shirt refashion turned a quilted flannel shirt into a reversible vest. (Get the full details here)

BEFORE

The original flannel shirt was an XXL so there was plenty of fabric to play with and adjust to my size.

Changes made:

• The collar was removed
• Sleeves removed
• Sides were taken in for a more feminine fit
• Buttons were replaced with larger buttons and placed on both the inside and outside
• Side pockets were created using the extra flannel fabric
• All edges were finished with bias tape

AFTER

BONUS: It's reversible!

Since this flannel shirt was quilted, it was ready to be reversible and show the quilting on the outside. This is my favorite was to wear this refashion.
