Christmas Sweater to Christmas Skirt

Basic sweater to skirt refashion!  It's Christmassy and really comfortable! Here's the before and after :)

Comfortable Knit Resized

It might be hard to tell in the first two pictures since I'm turned to the side, but this top was too large for me.  It also began its life as a white shirt and was then dyed blue/gray and then red/pink. The color ended up different then what I dyed it because of the type of material lol.  It was a very simple refashion.  I pinched along the armhole and down the side until I was happy with how it looked and then sewed!  It's a very comfortable knit fabric!:) 

 

Ruffled Dress To Simplified Shirt

This is a refashion from last week and I never got around to sharing it.

I got this dress from Goodwill and wasn't sure what to do with it.  The ruffles were cute but overpowering.  I decided to take them off and shorten the hem to make it a shirt.   I then cut down from the top and re-sewed the elastic for a better fit!

Free People Look Alike Strapless Tunic

This used to be a sleeveless dress that I thrifted several years ago.  I decided to make it into a skirt but that didn't exactly work out that great. Then got the idea to make a strapless maternity blouse with it. I dyed it red and then cut the top down a little closer to the tie and re-sewed the elastic.  I keep thinking it looks a little like a Free People Tunic because of how romantic and flowey it is!  Really excited with the result and can't wait to pair it with boots and a sweater!

Workout Pants Upgraded

I Bought these workout pants several years ago at a consignment shop and would wear them around the house because they were so comfortable.  But recently I've been needing tights, so I decided to give them a skinny leg.  They turned out great!  So comfortable!  I turned them inside out and pinched and pinned the sides and sewed, then hemmed them shorter.

Hemline Adjustment and RIT Maternity Shirt

  I found this at Goodwill in the dress section and decided it would be a good maternity shirt.  It was a little long, so I tried it on and marked where I wanted my new hem to be.  Then I measured up from the hem marking below my new marked hemline about two inches to give myself enough seam allowance to double it over twice and sew with a straight stitch.  Looking back I probably didn't need that much extra for seam allowance but thats ok because now I know for next time! lol  The color was a little bland so I used RIT dye to make it a beautiful purple!:)

Resized Paisley and Flower Dress

I bought this dress back in the spring at Goodwill but never took the time to refashion it.  And I'm so glad I waited, because now I can use it for a maternity dress!  Here are some before and after pics and a brief description of what I did.

Refashion Details:

  I Began by separating the skirt part from the top with a seam ripper .  I then took the top in on the sides and brought it up at the shoulders.  The dress form helped a lot with that!  I then measured, resized, and resewed the skirt at the side seams and shorted the back, doing a rolled hem stitch at the hem so it matched all around.  I basted the front flap over the other front flap of the skirt to hold it together.  I then resewed in the elastic to the skirt and sewed the top and skirt back together.  I then topstitched on the bottom side of the elastic to hold down the seam allowance and also make it look more professional.

Candy Apple Jacket!

I am really ready for fall! Season Changes of falling leaves, cool weather, hot chocolate and warm cozy sweaters.  But unfortunately we are still running the ac everyday and wearing shorts, tank stops and flip flops.  I felt inspired to do a fall transformation so I got a jacket out of my closet that I bought several years ago at a flea market for $1.00.  Added it to a hot bath of Red RIT dye and watched the transformation happen!  I'm So happy with the result and ready for when the cool weather does make it our way!

Button up Recon

I made this jacket earlier this fall from a polka dotted button up shirt my mom sent me.  It didn't fit me very well so I cropped it off at the waist, cut a circular neckline, added darts, cut the sleeves out of the arm holes then cut the sleeves in half.  I then reinserted the new quarter sleeve into the armhole and added gathers for fullness.  Then I added facing to the "new" jacket  and switched out the buttons!  Ya'll have a great day!:)

Winter Jacket to Spring Vest

Hey Everyone!  My name is Summer and this is my first post on here.  I'm really excited to find a group of refashionista's and look forward to sharing my refashions and seeing all of yours!  I don't have a blog yet but I am planning to start one.  Hope ya'll have a great day!:)

 Found this Denim Jacket on sale last spring.  I cut off the sleeves and took it in on the sides.  Goes perfect with spring and summer dresses now!
