for better or worse/

recreatefashion-comI like the floral texture on the white dress, but I am not very sure of the design of the dress, the simple strings on the shoulders make the dress looks cheap and not very fashionable.  fullsizerender
The first thing was to take the shoulder strings away, and cut the inner material off, because the white inner fabric was not any help to show the floral texture.

I found this top with a fancy shoulder design, it had the same off-white color as the white dress. I had to use it on my dress.  It was very easy to take apart from the top, I used pins to fix it on the dress.

And hand sew them together.

The finish! This dress is elegant and beautiful with expensive and different textures. I aways like fashion forward design even common designs.

Butterflies make everything better

Screen Shot 2016-08-30 at 下午3.07.07
This white vest just like a nice canvas, I can do some designs to make it look better. What about draw a butterfly on the side?
IMG_4637
Now, time to sew many knots on the butterfly shape.
IMG_4638
And more knots.

And more knots.

It is going to be good!

Here is it, I also make some knots on the right shoulder to match the left design.

The butterfly on the left waist make the body look more slim and the should design make the whole design more interesting.

Easy summer wear

I liked the patten and the fabric, which is 100% cotton. But I am not sure if I would want to wear such a long skirt during this hot summer weather, this easy makeover is very simple, everyone can try as long as you have a sewing machine.
First, cute the length you prefer, I cut it 2 inches above my knees, which left about 12" to make ruffs on the buttom.
IMG_4592
How to lock the loose edge without a serger? I used #30 on the swing machine to enclosed the loose edge, and it worked.
IMG_4602   IMG_4603
I also wanted to tighten the circle below the bust, so I had to sew a narrow strip from the inside and hand-sew two button holes on the front to allow a thin rope to go through.

Now that was easy and super fast. We just completed a cool summer dress. Please click here for more designs and subscribe to my newsletter to receive many more re-fashion ideas every week!

Add texture to the red shirt

I love texture, texture will add a 3 dimensional look to the most plain fabrics and can turn a boring shirt into a piece art! I found a plain red linen shirt which is perfect for continual practice for the drawn thread work as I tried on my last white shirt.
IMG_4478
But this shirt' size 3x, the chest enclose was 58"! It was too big, I had to reduce the size first.
IMG_4472IMG_4568
I had to cut the extra parts on the siand change the bust points from the lower part to upper part for better fit.
IMG_4495IMG_4496
These sleeves needed to be resized as well.
IMG_4499
Have to tear the thread up one at a time,

Start the drawn work with need+thread.
IMG_4526How about adding some little dots around the drawn thread to give it even more dimension? Lets do it!

I like it, those dots are really cute! They compliment the drawnwork wonderfully.

Skirt to Backpack

phonto-2phonto-3

IMG_2953IMG_2955
I got some dark gray cotton canvas for the lining, but first I had to make some pockets on the lining, then I did pockets on both sides to ensure there would be enough space for my phone, keys, and various small items. There will never be a bag with too many pockets for me because I will need every pocket to organize my little essentials.
