Coral Lace

Hello everyone!

I bought this dress for cheap online to wear to a party. However when it arrived it was awful! Seriously bad. I thought the colour would be nice and neutral, but it looked dirty and did nothing for me. The fit (which I was expecting to be quite flowy) felt like a maternity dress - and I am in no way pregnant! If I had ended up going to the party I would have definitely worn something else.

(I should have bought it in black!)

I really liked the neckline and the lace sleeves though, so I decided to make it into a top. I first added it to a dye bath with a few other items, and then cut a dipped hem.

(The hem is even, I promise!)

Now it's a gorgeous coral long sleeve top, and the lace shows up much better. I also made a cheeky top with the remaining fabric.

Thanks for reading!

Crop tops for winter

Hello! I'm really sorry about the delay since my first post. I've been enjoying everyone else's refashions so much but haven't been able to upload my own.

It might just be from seeing a lot of northern hemisphere fashion, but I always start feeling summery right around wintertime. So naturally I start cutting arms and legs off my clothes when I really should be adding them on.

This skirt wasn't at all winter-y to start with, so I didn't feel so bad chopping it up.

I folded it in half and turned it upside down so the waistband was at the bottom. I then used another top that fit well at the arm holes to trace and then cut. I cut a new neckline and unfolded it so I was left with a tank top shape.

Then all that was left to do was sew the shoulder seams. Because of the knit fabric there was no need to finish the edges (although that would make the neck lie much better).

I didn't cut it very neatly  so the neck gapes a bit. I may fix that when summer comes, but in the meantime it's a useful running/pyjama/under top.

This second top was cute, but I'm not a fan of peplums. I ripped off the bottom section and had an instant infinity scarf! I then removed the clasps down the front (they always come undone at the worst moments!) and sewed up the front. I left the bottom edge raw, so now it serves the same function as the first top.

I have a lot more refashions to photograph, so will be contributing much more now!

Thanks!

Legs become arms!

Hello! My name is Eri, and I'm a student from New Zealand.
I LOVE clothes. So much. However, my style is constantly changing,  so rather than spend all my (non-existent) money, I've started making my own clothes from op shop finds and pieces I already have.
I look forward to sharing ideas, and learning from all of you!

I liked these leggings so much I bought two pairs. The first pair were worn to death, but this pair were in pretty good condition apart from being a bit stretched out. The seams at the crotch were coming apart which made them perfect for this one-step refashion.

Laid out flat I cut a triangle out (through both sides), turned it upside down, and wore it!

The greatest thing about this is not needing to finish the neckline (although you could) as the cut jersey will just roll under when you stretch it gently! I also like how the elastic at the top becomes the new cropped waist.

It's a bit late here in NZ for crop tops, so I'm more likely to wear it under sleeveless dresses, like this:

Thank you so much for having me here! Any feedback would be fab.
