Floral Dress to Skirt

I found this dress, tags still attached, in my sister's donation pile. When I tried it on and the back wouldn't zip around my torso, I decided it could still be a skirt! I liked the material, so I salvaged it from the depths of donation and made my sister's trash my treasure. You can stop over to Fashionably Employed for the tutorial. 

Skinny Pants for the Office

Out with the old and in with the new. No longer enchanted by the boot cut option for work, I wanted some skinny pants for the office. Instead of buying new, I refashioned these pants and love how they turned out! Head on over for more information about the refashion. 

A Refashioned Thrifted Dress: No More Sleeves

When I stumbled up in this gorgeous material at the thrift store, I knew I loved it. But I did not like the hideous sleeves. As an easy fix, I took it home, chopped off the sleeves, and had myself an awesome new dress (that actually could be worn as a tunic as well)!

To do the refashion, I just cut off the excess sleeve fabric leaving about an inch to create the new seam. I folded the seam under twice, sewed down the "hem" with my machine, and away I went with a new dress.

An Adult Sweatshirt to Kids Pants

Ready to send this old sweatshirt to the thrift store, I instead chopped it up and made some new pants for our older son. This sports team is a big deal in our house, so it's great to see the logo and team pride sticking around with the sweatshirt for a little while longer. Years ago, I tossed this blouse into my bag at a thrift store on a sale day when I could pay $10 for anything that fit in the medium size bag they offered me. I liked the fabric and had grand visions of making a sleeveless top from this seemingly over-sized blouse that surely came from someone's grandmother's closet. Oversized Dress Refashion

After purchasing this dress in navy and pink (one of my favorite color combinations), I wanted an option that was a bit longer and more appropriate for my office. So I took a cue from another blogger and tried my hand and making this oversized dress (with added length) shrink down a bit in size to fit me. Refashioned Graphic Tee

With a plain white t-shirt taking up space in my dresser and never getting selected for regular wear, I opted to add a little edge to the shirt by cutting off the sleeves and adding my own graphic design with a little fabric paint. (I don't have a before photo, but it's really just a plain white t-shirt, so I'm sure you can imagine what it looks like.)

Maternity to Non-Maternity Shirt Refashion

After rocking this maternity shirt for many months while sporting my baby bump, I really loved the navy and white striped look. I didn't have a non-maternity replacement in my closet. So I dug into my sewing arsenal and rid this shirt of its "maternity" status to make it fit a regular ol' non-pregnant lady. You can see how it fit me before my refashion (below) and after being subject to my scissors and needle (above). Refashioned Tank Top to Maxi Dress

Hello! As a new contributor to Refashion Co-op, I'm pumped to share for the first time one of my refashion projects! I write over at Fashionably Employed primarily about personal style at work, and I sneak in some fun and simple DIY refashions, many of which I can wear to the office. Although I'm not sure this maxi dress could be worn to every office, I ended up giving it to my sister who is a teacher as I felt that, paired with a cardigan, it was perfect for her work setting. 

My project began as an old tank top that needed some TLC and some soft jersey knit fabric that turned my tank top in a perfect maxi dress. Head on over to my blog for more details and instructions on the project. Hope you enjoy!
