My Super Easy Knit Pencil Skirt With Pockets

I was lucky enough to get a bag full of clothes from my aunt last week. One of which was this fantastic skirt.

I turn it into this sweet pencil skirt with pockets.

I apologise for not posting more but it was a bad month for refashioning. I started out the month with a very ambitious refashion that has turned into a long-term refashion. The second I was going to refashion sounded a lot easier.  It was so frustrating; I seemed to be doing everything wrong. So I decided to put that refashion on hold. But I still wanted to refashion something. Which is where this top come in

I was looking through my refashioning pile and found this great sweater dress. It is so soft and fuzzy the perfect thing for winter. The were a couple of things I disliked the length and the neckline. I started with trying to fix the neckline. Nothing work for me, so I decide to ignore that for now and work on the length instead. The length was easy to adjust all I did was take the ribbing around the bottom and sew it higher up.

Once I had sewed the ribbing up higher, I tried it on again to make sure the length worked. While trying it on I put it on backwards. This fixed the neckline and I rather like the straight line across.

Now my back is low and while at first, I thought I should add a bow or something. I think I will wear it awhile and see how I like it. Want to hear more details go check it out on.

Basic Shirt To Tank Top

I been wanting to some refashioning lately and have the ideas I just need to buy a few things first. So annoying when you're all ready to refashioning something only to realize you can't because you don't have (fill in the blank here). That means today I just going to be posting a quick refashion I did a while ago.

When I'm thinking of ideas for refashioning something I often make elaborate plans but sometimes simple is better. Like with this t-shirt I had, it's a very plain extra large t-shirt with no details. I was making all these complicated plans for refashioning it until I though all I need is tank tops so let's make that. So that what I did, I dumped my elaborate plans and made a simple one. Make this t-shirt into a tank top.

Once I knew what to do things went relatively fast, I cut off the sleeves. Then I took in my side seams making sure to line up the hem. It was looking great, but a bit long and the neckline was a bit low so I ended up taking in the shoulders as well. I lined the shoulders up with the neckline so the armhole was off and I had to re-cut it.Then since it was a knit shirt, I simply folded the raw edges under and finished it with a twin needle. And that was it.

I Refashioned Old Jeans Into A Woven Jean Jacket

Hi, everybody! This is my first post on refashion co-op which I am so proud to be a part of, it was only a few years ago that I would come to this site to find inspiration and to teach myself to refashion. Which makes it so cool that I'm posting on here now. So who am I? I'm Natalie, I love sewing and refashioning and talk about it on my blog naterjane. I'm  still learning, and not all my projects work out but I having a blast making unique clothes for myself. But let's get to the refashion, shall we?

I'm a terrible person and don't as before pictures as this was before my blog.

I made this jean jacket about a year ago. I had a lot of old jeans which I wanted to refashion but had a hard time finding an idea that would work. Not all the jeans were my size and most had stains or holes which most ideas didn't take into consideration. After a lot of Pinterest searching, I came across this a woven jean vest.

I didn't want a jean vest so I though I make a jean jacket. It was a lot of trial and error as there wasn't a real tutorial to follow. And I was making a jacket just based off a jacket I already owned. I'm  not a great sewer especially not back then so it was stretching my skill set.However, it was a forgiving project, and I ended up working on it off and one over several months.

The short version of how to make a jacket like this has lots of old jeans. Cut the jeans into strips, weave the strips into a solid piece for the back. To make the front sew the pieces together. Cut out the sleeves in one piece and soo them on. To finish add a collar and a jean waistband as a hem.

Of course, it was slightly more complicated than that. And it certainly didn't go too smoothly. If you would like to see, more details click here. I love this jacket it very me and also wearable in my daily life. (Sometimes when I sew I get carried away and make things while great they don't get a lot of wear.) I love this jacket, and it is a great addition to my closet.
