purse/bag/tote

I am proud of myself..the past few bags I've tried to do haven't ended well.  I don't have before photos, but it's made from a long women's jacket from old navy, that I had bought at a thrift store for $10...I was so excited, I didn't really pay attention to the fact that it didn't fit well.  The lining is made from a skirt I got for free. I even used the part of the skirt with a zipper to make a change purse :)  I used the original pockets for the outside, and made one for the inside.

baby beanie

Good morning!

Sorry I've been MIA with the holidays and a nasty stomach bug caught by all in my little home, I haven't had much time for anything! This sweet little hat was refashioned out of an adult sweater.
I used the bottom of the sweater as the bottom of the beanie, and a scrap of bright pink corduroy for the flower :)

I'm not sure if this is allowed, but it's raining here, and I have a rainy day code for my little etsy shop. Use code RAINYDAY10 and get 10% off :)

Have a lovely day!!! -Hil-

fashion for the home ♥

so, being a new mommy i've found that i don't have much time to be on the sewing machine, which kind of rules out a lot of refashions I can wear...but, I've discovered a new favorite project of mine! I have it for sale in my etsy shop...but it's still sitting on my wall from the photo shoot ;)

Thrifted embroidery hoop, thrifted blazer, t-shirt and camisole, thrifted buttons and ta-da!

have a lovely day!

dainty cardigan ♥

i love cardigans.

Savers was having a 50% off sale yesterday so I got my friend to go with me and fell in love with this:

Before: a wrap around H&M cardigan

But, I didn't like that it was a little wrap around number. So, I got to work! It had lines going down it which were a great guide for turning it into a little cardigan, so I pinned the edge along the line where I wanted it to fall and sewed along that line.

pinned and ready to sew!
I trimmed the excess, cut the long tie and hemmed it. Sewed up the little hole that the tie was fed through previously and ended up with this nice little dainty cardigan! I love it! The best part? It only costed $3.50 :)

i love cardigans! ♥

Lumberjack Chic

My little family has been keeping me very busy the past few weeks, that and needing to replace my needle on my machine have made for very little sewing, BUT, the needle is replaced, the house is the cleanest it's been in awhile, and I have spruce dup some tanks! Here is my favorite one thus far :)

I refashioned a tank I already had (although I am giving it to a friend), used a remnant I bought, and some lace I totally scored at a thrift store!  :)

Zipper Pouch

Not a fashion you can wear, but one you can carry! :) I used two different shirts I got for super cheap at the little thrift store down the street. I am starting to see an improvement in my sewing! You can see more on my blog.

From His to Hers

I didn't steal this from my husband, I actually got it at a little dinky thrift store down the street. They have a last chance rack where you can fill a bag for $2 and this was one of my finds!  I have always liked baseball shirts, but they never fit right, so, I MADE it fit right!  :)  From a 2XL men's, to me!  I'm gettin' the hang of this!

Refashion for a Friend!

To begin, I apologize for the bad pictures of my shirt.  I've become quite the refashion blog junkie lately!  I found this adorable refashion here

I was chatting with a friend and told her I would going to refashion a shirt for her, and as I was, I thought I'd try to mimic the great detail from the above one!  This is what I started with (again, picture is horrible, from my phone, lol, in my bathroom)...I had already pinned it, but you can see how bug and blah it is.

I took it WAY in (tried to make it a little tight for me since my friend is a smaller).
and:

I am very new to sewing,a nd horrible at sewing necklines, if anyone has some pointers, tutorials, anything, it'd be much appreciated!  Considering how I've only refashioned one other thing...I think it came out really well!  I can't wait to see a picture of my friend in it!  :)  Happy Tuesday!

Hi Ya'll!!!!

Hi!!! I am so excited to join you!  I've wanted a sewing machine for quite some time.  I'm a housewife/stay at home mom, and I've found lots of neat ways to save money, and this is my newest!  Anyway, here is my very first refashion.  I have tons to learn about sewing, but here it is! I'm happy with it!  :)  I got this shirt at Savers for $4.99, loved the neat pockets, but didn't like the flowy sleeves, so...I got rid of them!  Happy sewing!
