Another silk top refashion-two ways

Hello and happy hump day!

I found this lovely silk top yesterday at one of the local thrift stores for $3.

I liked the pockets but knew the sleeves would have to go!
This is what I did. I seam ripped those sleeves and collar right off! I then took in the arm holes by about 2 inches and took the sides in just a bit for some shape. I finished off the sleeves and around the neck, then decided I'd like to wear it as a v neck sometimes, and buttoned all the way up other times. I found the bottom of the v and tacked it with a few stitches. Now I have to put this on over my head, but it allows me to wear this 2 ways without showing too much!

Gotta love my face in these! I was simply planning to crop my head out, but then decided, hey, let's keep it real. I can show my greasy unwashed hair and un-made up face to my fellow refashioners ;) We all have those days...now, it's off to the shower! Hope you like it :)

Peace,
Andrea

Slipper Refashion, From Plain to Princess

Here are the slippers I embellished for Emily to be worn with her Victorian nightgown that I blogged about here turning them from plain, pink $6 Isotoner ballerina slippers from Wal-Mart to slippers fit for a princess. I took off the little pink bow on the top. Then cut out circle and petal shapes from floaty, lightweight fabric. Then I stacked each shape one on top of the other in two separate stacks. Picked up one of the stacks, folded it in half put a stitch through it. Then folded it the other way and put another stitch through it to make an "X," and that made a pretty little flower. I did the same with the other stack. Then I sewed a bead on the top of each flower. Then sewed the flowers onto the slippers. That's it. Pretty simple refashion.

ReFashion Mash-Up

I wanted to show you guys how I've been mixing it up with the last 3 refashions I posted here:  the platform shoe redo, the happy dress remake, and my made-from-scratch raspberry socks.

the aforementioned happy dress, sock, and platforms show up together with my made from scratch vest and bloomers
totally incognito in the happy dress with made from scratch pants & matching top, old red flats, and cat-eye sunglasses
first time wearing the happy dress with my rehabbed lady boots, old pink anklets, red bangle, and dollar store red reading glasses

Great minds think alike

A few weeks ago I was looking for something else stored on my old Sony Vaio laptop when I came across some jewelry pix I’d saved some time ago for references/inspiration. One in particular -- an Anthropology seed bead and fabric necklace -- reminded me that I had  already bought a half dozen strings of garnet beads for this very project.  I was thinking I might chronicle my step-by on one of my two main blogs if the prototype came out reasonable well.

But before getting to work on this piece -- again while looking for something else -- I came across Copy Cat Crafts (who have THE greatest disclaimer on the difference between you being a Copy Cat and a Counterfeiter) and from there discovered Flamingo Toes.

You can a). head to my blog for more details on how I made my Tana Lawn version, plus the usual ramblings which sometimes often stray from the path but get there in the end or b). skip straight to Bev’s tutorial for her construction details.
