My cheeky toddler liked to take off her front zipped sleeper/pajama and diaper and all her clothes when I put her to bed. I needed a back zipped, 1 piece toddler/pajama within an hour of her bed time. So this is my hack job within 45 min.
From this Men's tee that
is too short on my hubby:
To this after some quick and crude sewing:
I
added a 'storm-flap-like' strip (with self fabric) to the inside of the
zipper so that it doesn't scratch my toddler when she is sleeping on
her back:
My toddler has been wearing it for a week and she
hasn't been able to take it off yet. Mission accomplished!!

Teeny Weeny Baby Tees!
I've been a bit slow off the mark to start doing any baby sewing - I'm 23 weeks pregnant now, and February suddenly doesn't seem so far away! I decided to start this week using this free baby t-shirt pattern, some mens t-shirts, and some of my precious garage sale fabric (a lady gave me three big suitcases full for $50!).
![]() |
Two baby tees cut out from men's tees. |
![]() |
One tee made from scratch, with a men's tie added! |
![]() |
All three tees totally finished! |
The Jack Skellington tee & the Batman tee were cut out from op-shopped men's t-shirts, with knit fabric added as ribbing to finish the hems. For the Tie tee, I cut the tie pieces out from an actual men's tie so that they would fit on the tiny t-shirt. I finished the hems with navy knit fabric for ribbing. For more info, check out my blog!

Lil girl Go To Tunic
Hi guys,
I am Petra from Bag of Pretty and I just got gently reminded that it's been more than a month since my last post. Whaaaat? Unbelievable how time flies...
So, let me show you one of my projects from several months ago when I was lucky to be able to test a Go To Signature dress pattern.
I decided to cut my old tunic from Walmart and to use as much of the original seams as I can. Obviously everything needed to be adapted, except for the pocket that fit in the pattern beautifully.
Here is the little sleeve, cut so that the original seem is usable
And a cool downsized hood.
Now, I only have two boys, and the are REAL boys now, so I can not do this anymore, and not everybody is happy to have their kids all over the Internet, hence no photos of a girl in THE dress, but I am sure you get the picture.
Now hop over to see some other of my upcycling projects. See you there.

Baby Sweater Vest Overalls From Adult Sweater
I love making little boy clothing and refashioned my husbands old sweater into some great sweater vest overalls for my son. Doesn't he look quite dashing?

Culottes and Shorts Refashion...
Hi, Pam here from Threading My Way.
Both the culottes and shorts have been made from a pair of women's pants. This would have to be one of the easiest refashions I've done.
You can find all the details here.

Refashion Month: 3rd week
For the third week of my self challenge of making at least one refashion month, I kept it very simple.
Don't know if you have seen it, but I've been making some sort of walking around the house/pajama pants for my little girl out of her daddy's shirts. So, I made one out of my own too, and had started another one, I just cut it and then left it around the pile of thing to sort out.
Since I didn't really make anything gorgeous, I thought at least I would make it to the 3rd week with a little thing, and it was the pants.
Here they are:

Retro baby shorts from t-shirt
I have made these two pairs of retro shorts for Bess (6 months) from two old t-shirts of my moms. The pattern is from the Ottobre magazine 3/2012.
Come visit me at Eddie's room where you can see the tights I also made from the same t-shirts. I have alreadt cut out for a couple of matching retro t-shirts.

Girl's dress from a man's t-shirt
I wanted to make my daughter a dress out of a big men’s t-shirt, and we finally found the perfect shirt. I have been teaching her money management recently by shopping at garage sales, and my Angry Birds fan spotted this XXL number for 50 cents. Note her “Can Mom really make something out of THIS?!” expression.
I wanted to try out so many cool ideas on this dress (Make
it a halter! Sew it like a baseball jersey! Add a ruffled hem!) My little
fashionista, however, wanted it very simple. She is six and has some strong
opinions. So I took a dress of hers that
fit well and laid it on top to get an idea of where to put the side seams.
I stitched along the pin lines and cut off the excess. When
I was finished, the dress looked like this.
I thought about doing something fancier with the sleeves,
but we decided they looked good at three-quarter length. She was really excited
about her new dress, and I can’t wait to try a different style next time.
Hopefully, she will give me more creative license then!

T-Shirt to Girls Pinafore Dress
A few weeks ago I had my first try at refashioning something for kids (in honour of the fabulous Max California, who was celebrating the birth of her new daughter)! I made a small womens t-shirt into a girls pinafore style dress. Here's the shirt I started with:
Here's the way things started to come together:
And here's the final product!
Unfortunately I don't have a little girl to model for me, but I think you can get the idea still. If you're interested in the tutorial I wrote, you can find it here.

T-shirt to toddler dress
I bought this t-shirt at Goodwill for $2 since my daughter now loves Tinkerbell.
Chopped it up and created a new dress for my favorite little girl.

Cinderella is off to the ball...
Hi, Pam here from Threading My Way. I thought it was about time I added to the Dress Up box. I was thinking a fairy outfit or maybe a princess outfit, but it was decided that a Cinderella dress was the way to go.
I interpreted Cinderella dress rather loosely and thought a skirt would be OK, so I dug out an old dancing costume skirt and attached an elastic waistband from another skirt.
You can see photos of the whole dress up outfit over at Threading My Way.

Sweater Pants
Here is a really cute sweater refashion that I just completed. My elderly neighbour gave me this hand knitted sweater a few years ago but the proportions were totally wrong and it was basically unwearable. I held onto it wondering what to do. Until now.
Original sweater - ridiculously long arms and short wide body. Something went wrong!
Most adorable bubba pants ever, modelled by my 7 month old!
You can read more about the transformation on my blog http://365crafty.blogspot.com.au/2012/07/day-116-sweater-pants.html

White Pants to Shorts
In my pile of clothes, I re-found these ] white khakis. I've never worn white pants, or white shorts; the main: because of my wonderful creative messes I make in all aspects of life (my hubby laughs at such an understatement).
Purposeful Patchwork
Mass produced prints are one of my biggest pet peeves. Slapping on a
zero-imagination print (or worse…a logo) is sure fire way to ruin even
the most froufroushishi garment, amiright? Unfortunately munchkin-gear
manufacturers seem to be the worst offenders. Fear not, your little one
need not be a walking billboard! I’ve added to my arsenal of covert cover-ups & creative camouflage….behold:
Now you see it…now you don’t! Adorable patchwork with a purpose!
